Changes to the Behavioral Health Program

Updated November 19, 2025

If you are a firefighter with an EMS certificate, you are eligible for additional behavioral health funding through Path4EMS. Details can be found by clicking here or visiting path4ems.org. Path4EMS is a state-funded program unaffiliated with the Colorado Firefighter Trust.
The Trustees for the Behavioral Health Program received notice that funding was not included in the Governor's final budget for continuation of this program, and that no additional funding will be provided by the Colorado legislature as of November 1, 2025. Because of the lack of funding moving forward, the Trust Committee will be making changes to the Coverage Plan Document for the Behavioral Health Program effective as of November 1, 2025. To address the Behavioral Health Program’s current lack of funding, the Trust Committee made changes to the Coverage Plan Document which is now posted on our website.
Beginning on November 1, 2025, the available coverage benefit for the Behavioral Health Program will be adjusted to provide a covered individual a lifetime aggregate benefit of $2,000 for behavioral health services/reimbursement rendered on or after this date. Behavioral health services rendered between July 1, 2025, and October 31, 2025 will remain subject to the previous $1,000 cap.
Thank you for your paitence as we navigate these changes. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
